General Dentistry

A general dentist is your first line of defense in diagnosing and treating oral health issues and emergencies.  These include gum infections, tooth fractures, and decay. Hygienists aid with prevention by professionally cleaning your teeth, and checking for oral health issues.

Dr. Mulandi’s goal is to help his patients achieve a lifetime of optimal oral health. He treats his  patients with respect and strives to make a visit to his dental office as pleasant and comfortable as possible.

Typical Services Provided by a General Dentist

Some of the more common services offered by Dr. Mulandi include:

  • Fluoride Treatment: This is an effective way to provide extra protection to patients with a high risk of cavities, and those with newly erupted teeth. The fluoride is administered in gel form, as a foam, or varnish. Dr. Mulandi recommends fluoride treatment for children between the ages of 6 and 12 who have just had new molars erupt.
  • Sealants: A dental sealant helps protect permanent teeth from decay caused by cracks and small fissures in the surface of the tooth. Sealants are the same color as your teeth and consist of bonding resin. In most cases, Dr. Mulandi applies dental sealants to the chewing surface of premolars and molars. The procedure is fast, painless, and saves considerable money by minimizing the likely need for dental fillings later.
  • Tooth Decay Treatment: Plaque, acid, and sugar from food that remains on your teeth can break through the enamel and cause them to decay. Once this happens, you need prompt treatment to preserve your tooth. Dr. Mulandi removes all decay from your tooth and then covers those spots with filling material. While silver amalgam filling material was the only available option in the past, you can now choose from composite that closely matches the natural shade of your teeth. Besides being more discreet and attractive, composite fillings increase tooth strength better than does silver amalgam. An inlay, onlay, or crown may be necessary if you have significant tooth decay.
