Dr. Mulandi and his team at Eastern Slope Dental regularly help their patients achieve the oral health, appearance, and functional improvement they seek with what are termed restorative dental procedures. As its name implies, these procedures restore function and appearance to the teeth, jaws, and gums.
We may recommend a restorative dentistry procedure if you have one or more of these concerns:
- You are missing some or all of your natural teeth
- Biting or chewing your food is uncomfortable
- Your teeth appear to be misaligned, or your bite is uneven
- Failure of a dental restoration you already have
- Your tooth is cracked or decayed
Typical Restorative Dentistry Procedures
Below are the most common types of dental procedures that Dr. Mulandi recommends for restorative purposes.
Bridges: When you are missing a tooth, Dr. Mulandi attaches metal brackets to the back of each nearby tooth to hold the dental bridge in place. He then affixes the new replacement tooth to the dental bridge.
Crowns: A crown goes over the top of a tooth to protect it against further decay by keeping bacteria out. It also helps to preserve and strengthen a cracked tooth, or a tooth that received a root canal.
Dental Implants: This dental restoration takes the form and appearance of natural teeth. That is because you receive new tooth roots, as well as artificial teeth, which match the color and shape of any remaining teeth.
Fillings: When Dr. Mulandi diagnoses a cavity, he removes the decayed part of your tooth and places filling material. This preserves the tooth, while protecting it from additional decay.
Root Canal Therapy: When the pulp of your tooth becomes infected, you need to have it removed during a root canal therapy (RCT) procedure. Dr. Mulandi cleans your tooth from the inside before placing a dental cap over it to keep bacteria out in the future.
Feel free to speak to anyone at Eastern Slope Dental if you have additional questions about the above procedures.
