Tooth Extractions in Conway, NH

Tooth Extractions

At Eastern Slope Dental

We understand that tooth extractions become necessary in maintaining your oral health. Tooth extraction is only considered as a treatment option if Dr. Mulandi is unable to save your tooth with more conservative treatment methods. Our team is ready to tackle various dental issues such as disease, trauma, or crowding with professional and effective tooth extraction services.

To prepare for the procedure, Dr. Mulandi ensures your comfort by first numbing the area surrounding the tooth. For impacted teeth, he will then remove any necessary bone and gum tissue. Only after confirming with you that you are comfortable will he proceed to loosen and then remove your tooth.

Following the procedure, Dr. Mulandi will gently place a gauze pad over the clot, which will naturally form over your tooth socket. In some cases, usually if your tooth was impacted, he may apply sutures to aid with healing.

Dr. Mulandi will instruct you on proper home care. It’s important to follow directions precisely to avoid infection and other complications. Swelling and discomfort may persist for a few days.

Once the site has healed, it is time to consider the type of restoration you want to fill the gap left by the procedure. A dental implant, bridge, or partial denture are some of the more popular options to consider.

We’ll be happy to answer any questions you have either by calling (603) 356-2566 or scheduling your Complimentary Consultation.

  • Trauma has resulted in partial tooth loss and removing the remaining pieces is the most logical step
  • The tooth is causing infection to spread to the rest of your mouth
  • Extra teeth, such as wisdom teeth.
  • As part of an orthodontic or cosmetic dentistry treatment plan

Tooth Extraction FAQs

A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket in the jaw when it cannot be saved by other treatments. It may be necessary due to severe decay, infection, damage, crowding or impaction. At Eastern Slope Dental, the procedure is described as part of their general services and they handle extractions with care and modern techniques. You’ll be guided through every step and your comfort will be prioritized throughout the process.

Fitting securely over your teeth, they are more comfortable than traditional metal braces, which may poke out and stick the inside of your cheek.

You might require an extraction if a tooth is badly decayed, cracked beyond repair, infected, impacted (especially wisdom teeth), or when it’s causing crowding or interfering with other treatments. Because leaving a damaged tooth can affect surrounding teeth, gums and bone, removal often leads to better long-term health. The team at Eastern Slope Dental will review your condition, discuss alternatives and explain why extraction is the best option for you. Making the decision together ensures you’re comfortable and informed.

Typically your dentist will numb the area thoroughly, remove the tooth carefully, clean up the socket, and provide instructions for after-care. If the tooth is impacted or difficult, additional steps may be required such as sectioning the tooth or minor surgical intervention. At Eastern Slope Dental they emphasize patient comfort, offering modern anesthesia and gentle techniques. Most patients report minimal discomfort and appreciate the smooth, professional experience.

Perhaps best of all, unlike metal braces, you need not come in for frequent adjustments that sometimes result in pain and discomfort.

After the extraction you’ll be advised to rest, eat soft foods, avoid straws and strenuous activity, maintain gentle oral hygiene, and follow specific instructions to promote healing. Swelling, soreness and mild bleeding are common but typically resolve within a few days when handled properly. At Eastern Slope Dental you’ll receive personalized recovery tips and schedule follow-up visits if needed. Taking the recommended precautions helps ensure a faster, more comfortable recovery.

Yes — since missing teeth can lead to shifting of adjacent teeth, bite changes, bone loss and aesthetic impact, your dentist will often discuss replacement options such as implants, bridges or dentures. Effective planning after extraction ensures your smile, oral function and jaw health are preserved. Eastern Slope Dental includes extraction as part of their treatment flow, helping you transition smoothly from removal to restoration. Having a plan in place gives you peace of mind and protects your smile’s future.
